I just purchased two sheets of stamps. There is a whole selection of stamps you can choose from right here —

You’d be amazed at the variety of what the USPS offers. I was. Had no idea until I signed up on their web site.
Why should we do this?
Because together we can save our neighbors’ jobs, our small businesses, and post offices. Equally, if not more importantly, together we can save our ability to vote by mail during the Trump plague
Donald Trump and the GOP slash and burners, want to kill the Post Office. They want to take away our right to vote.
Destroying the USPS removes any hope of voting by mail. In spite of millions of military personnel voting by mail, in spite of the success of those states that have voting by mail. in spite Trump himself voting by mail, in spite of the danger during these plague days of voting in person, Team Trump threatened to kill the pandemic relief bill if it included help for the postal service.
Eliminating voting by mail is one of the reasons for the GOP’s years long attacks on the USPS. They also want to kill one of our largest unions, one that is made up of a large number of women, people of color, and Veterans.
Then there is the greed factor. The USPS works for us, not the 1% who own Trump and the GOP. They’d love to privatize our Postal Service and take away any transparency and accountability. Our own Boadicea859 powerful comment lays out the greed and power at work.
Hi Onomastic, I’m so glad to see your diary with great ideas & comments to motivate us to save the USPS.
It was mentioned in a couple of comments below, the puzzling GOP mandated pre-funding of the USPS employees retirement, I believe for medical benefits.
The USPS wouldn’t be in trouble if not for this Congressional sabotage. So why did it happen in the first place? Everyone loves & respects the postal service for delivering, day after day.
I believe this is completely intentional & pre-planned, with the sole purpose of privatizing it for corporate interests to take over & grab that pension fund for themselves, leaving the workers with NOTHING!
Incredibly, as I began writing this, Craig Melvin on MSNBC spoke to Mark Dimondstein, the president of the American Postal Workers Union. During the piece it was mentioned there is a deeper crisis the USPS is facing & Mr. Dimondstein said there was a June 2018 OMB White House report that called for selling the Post Office. He also indicated the COVID pandemic could reduce the USPS revenue by 50% or more. The Postmaster General & Postal Board of Governors (mostly Republicans) asked Congress for $25B in relief funding to ride out the pandemic & to modernize the system, but that was rejected by Treasury Secretary Mnuchin in the $2T bill passed recently. The segment ended there, but Craig Melvin mentioned the need to discuss the unfunded mandate in another interview.
So what is really at stake here? Others who commented earlier mentioned that the employees fund is around $40B now & they are required to bring it to $50B? Quite a golden egg corporate windfall. We must never allow that to happen! The USPS belongs to the American people & should not be dismantled or destroyed.
Democracy dies in darkness.
It’s all a power grab. Power and greed are the basis of all Trump’s and the GOP’s actions.
They want to control our ability to communicate. The USPS’ mandate is to deliver mail to everyone. Period. Trump and GOP do not want us to have the ability to reach out to one another, to share ideas and concerns. They do not want us sending out “remember to register” post cards, And God knows they don’t want us doing “GOTV” efforts through the postal service.
They want to remove our control over our own government. It’s what they have always wanted.
And they are very close to being able to do so. Due to the COVID-19, the USPS is fast running out of operating money. Unlike the millions of our money given to private companies, Trump and his destroyers have refused to help our postal service in anyway.
But we can. We can fight to save our USPS.
Together we can stop Trump and his enablers from destroying what belongs to all of us.
We’re in a war for our country and it’s time to suit up in whatever ways we can.
Go to https://t.co/01jFDCziuO and order a sheet of stamps.
#buystamps, save the postal system and our Democracy. Let’s get it done!

Thanks so much to SallyCat for this information.
“Side note... Using the USPS account function for packages means no standing in line in December. Because of package bombs there has to be a valid home address on the account. But, print labels, tape to package, walk in and drop off. Each PO is slightly different on this drop off, or hand to your mail carrier.”

Absolutely love what you’re all doing and the suggestions coming in! Look at our dustdevil go! All of you are magic. :)
“2 sheets of ‘forever stamps’ every week, use as patriot wall paper. triple stamp all your letters, good way to let postal workers know about our support. send a “nasty” letter to to that mothertrumper in our white house, put as many stamps on it as you can. same with the reublicritters in the congress. send letters and thank-you cards to 1st responders, hospital and staff, local stores where we get our food (and booze). mail the NRf’enA a GOFUSelf message. send a sheet of stamps to everyone you know that likes to write letters. order on line, demand USPS delivery. put stamps on your mask, stick-um on your forehead….….….this idea-ating is making me happy and dizzy at the same time…….early nap for me.”

You’re all brilliant! More good ideas pouring in —
Great idea. And I’m thinking of taking a couple of sheets to Democratic headquarters for their mailings and possibly for mail in ballots if postage is needed.”
Don’t forget your local non-profits — battered women's shelters, de-tox programs, food pantries, etc. Betting they could all use donations of stamps. Win win all around. :)

Stamps. So many beautiful and fun designs to choose from. So many uses. Including choosing a favorite to express our displeasure with Mitch McConnell and others about their attacks on our USPS. We could paper letter envelopes with stamps that indicate our displeasure with them and our support of the USPS.
This one could work. :) —
Who knew writing GOP Senators and House Reps could be so much fun?! :)

Can not recommend this highly informative reply by Progressive Muse enough. Stamps are the beginning. Then we can take the next crucial steps in winning elections. We are the ones we have been waiting for. Together we will take our country back. Never doubt it.
I have been buying 100 postcard stamps at a time for Postcards to Voters efforts. Currently we are writing for Christy Smith for Congress for CA-25. (This design is a downloadable template from the Postcards to Voters website.)
Very soon there will be new opportunities to write to Florida Democrats about enrolling in Vote By Mail. Sample Florida VBM card (Note: this card is not my design but I bought them to help support Postcards to Voters):
Writing with Postcards to Voters is fun and simple. You submit one card to get approved, and then you can volunteer for campaigns as you are able. You can do as few as 4 cards or as many as 50.
Returning writers can obtain addresses by one of these methods:

Gift shopping online at the USPS site never occured to me before — until now. They have so much good stuff! store.usps.com/...
Our Tamar had fun and so did I. You can too. :)
I didn’t know either! Your diary has really opened up things for me. I plan to use their online store again for Chanukah presents.
I went a little nuts over there. Bought 2 sheets of stamps for each of my girls (each gets 1 sheet of Sesame Street, younger daughter gets spooky stamps, older daughter gets dragon stamps)
And then I splurged and bought myself a framed Year of the Rat. I was born in the year of the rat, loved the image on the stamp, and the colors are exactly what my husband and I have been talking about painting the cabinets in the house to which we’re moving probably within the next 6-9 months (downsizing). I thought that it was too perfect to pass up and for a great cause so I didn’t need to feel guilty about spending the money.
Oh, that is all so cool. Love it. :) You’ve got me thinking that I need to get stamps for the grand boys. My eldest daughter has a thing about muscle cars, so she’s getting one of the toy ones they sell just for grins and giggles. :) ”
Don’t know if I’m going to get her the Shelby, Plymouth Hemi Cuda, or the Dodge Charger Daytona. Maybe all three. Her birthday is in July. :)
Who would have thunk it — toy muscle cars, and tote bags, and framed prints, and t-shirts, and so much more! So well done, priced right, and easy. That is OUR United States Postal Service. And we’re keeping it!
